BAUBLES

2nd post today, I don't know what's got into me!!!

I decided to make a couple of new baubles for the old Christmas Tree this year and here's what I made...

This is made using a polystyrene ball from a craft shop.  The papers are Craftwork Cards Candy Cane Glitter Pad.  I've punched out little daisy shapes and just pushed them in with a pearl headed pin, no glue and it looks lovely shining on my tree.

The next one is made using scraps of paper left over from another project...

The papers are also by Craftwork Cards here.  I've torn and randomly stuck them over the ball.  I've then given it a little varnish and sprayed with some Crafters Companion gold spray.  I'm really pleased with how they have turned out.

I'm going to enter them into the   ABC Challenges - Deck the Halls

See you Soon

LET IT SNOW

Hi again everyone,  well two posts in two days, this is a miracle for me, but I wanted to show you a card I've just finished. (My apologies for the shocking photo, it is now 4.20pm and no daylight left in the UK).

The papers are from Craftwork Cards Twinkle Paper Pack, it's beautiful white pearl paper with silver foiled snowflakes (the photo doesn't do it justice!).  The snowflakes are also from Craftwork Cards made from Kraft card also with foiled snowflakes.  I've also added Candi and some Stickles Glitter Glue.

I'm going to enter this card into the Freshly Made Sketches challenge..

Hope you like it.

Christmas Wreath

Hi everyone, long time no blogging.  There are no excuses or reasons as to why I've been missing in action, there has just been no blogging done at all, and I'm very sorry.  I have however, been busy with a few bits and pieces and here is a card I made recently I'd like to show you...

It's an easel card I made recently for the Craftwork Cards blog.  It's made using strips of paper from the Candy Cane Glitter pad.  The robin is also from Craftwork Cards.  I've chalked his tummy and added a lovely gold glitter outline.  I have to say I'm thrilled with how this card turned out and hopefully will be making more.

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Crafting for All Seasons - Green, Red, Glitter & Sparkle
Sparkles Monthly Challenges - Anything Goes
DYSU - Christmas

Check back soon for some more Christmassy posts.

NEW LADYBUGS DIGI RELEASE, GUEST DESIGNER AND CHALLENGE

Hi Everyone, hope you are all well.

This is a very very exciting day for me as I was recently asked to be a Guest Designer for Ladybug Crafts Ink.   It is also exciting because they have a new set of Digi's released today.

I've coloured the image with Copics and highlighted the leaves and bird houses with Glossy Accents.  The background is from Craftwork Cards Embossed Kraft Cardstock and the flower is made from CWC Card Candi...

Naturally Gorgeous

Hi everyone

Hope you are all fine and dandy.  Not much posting going on again from me, been really busy at home and at work.

Looking forward to the Great Northern Papercraft Exhibition in Harrogate this weekend.  If you are reasonably local why don't you pop over to the Craftwork Cards website and get a ticket, there's still time.

As most of you now know I'm a very proud member of the Craftwork Cards Design Team, recently they sent me their Naturally Gorgeous Project of the Month which I loved.  I have already posted these cards on their blog but for those of you that didn't see them here they are...

I hope you like them.  Everything I used was from the project kit, there is so much stuff in it and a fab price too.  This months kit is called Memory Lane, and very soon there will be more cards to show you from there.

ALFIE BEAR

Hi again,

Wow I can't believe it - no posts for over 6 weeks and now two posts in the same day!!!

I saw this over at Freshly Made Sketches

and just had to enter.  You could choose any of their past sketches so I chose this one

So here is my card...

The image is an Alfie Bear stamp from Craftwork Cards which has been coloured with Copics.  The papers are MME - on the Sunny Side (the weather here this afternoon is rubbish, dark and rainy so I wanted to so something nice and bright).  The Candi and Sentiment are also CWC.

You can't see really clearly but I've gone over the sunflower with Glossy Accents.

Hope you like it.

Less is More - 85 Ovals

Hello everyone, I'm back.  Have you missed me?

I kind of took a bit of a blogging break over the summer hols.  We were away for three out of the six weeks, then having the kids at home, there just never seemed to be enough hours in the day.

I'm also back at work doing 5 days a week (I was previously part time on 3 days), so life has just got a little busier, but hopefully things seem to be settling down I can get back to blogging.

And what a perfect way to start than by doing a card for the Less is More challenge.  I've really missed making cards for this challenge.  I've looked most weekends at the theme, just never got myself into gear.  The challenge this week is to use ovals.  I love making paper flowers at the moment so I decided upon this...

All the products used are from Craftwork Cards.  The papers are from the Naturally Gorgeous range.  The petals are made from the Perfect Petals 2 template using 3 different size ovals.

I raised the pink oval off the card and scored down the middle of the petals so they stood proud.

Hope you like it.  Bye for now.

Olympic Torch

Hi everyone,

No card today, busy making teachers pressies for my kids to take to school.  Just wanted to show you this...

Had a visit at the school where I work from one of the Olympic torch bearers who ran in Leeds. He spent the morning with us and the kids got to have their photo taken with it, and this is me, holding the Olympic Torch (it was quite exciting!)  A good day!

Less is More 75 - Colour

Hi everyone and Good Afternoon

Hope the sun is still shining wherever you are.

Well I haven't managed to get a Less Is More card made for a few weeks, and I have missed it.  So I've tried my hardest to get one done for this week which is a colour theme and Chrissie and Mandi want us to use Gold.  I do like gold but don't use it very often.

However I saw this idea in Pinterest Here and just had to have a go at making a smaller version. Their pictures are amazing and look very time consuming.  When I saw it it was one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments...

It's basically different sizes of hearts cut out, folded and stuck down on one side (a bit fiddly, but I'm pleased with it).  I used Gold pearl paper and the sentiment is from Uniko Studio Fontiments stamp set that I've stamped and embossed in gold (not very clear).

Hope you like it.

Alfie and Pretty Little Prints

Hi Everyone

Hope you have had a good day now the sun is eventually shining!

Just wanted to show you a card I've made for my God-daughter Stephanie who will be one tomorrow.

It features Alfie Bear from Craftwork Cards, along with papers and Candi from their Pretty Little Prints range, there is also an embossed butterfly card background but unfortunately it hasn't shown up very well ...

I stamped and coloured Alfie with my Copics and added Glossy Accents to the flower...

Close up of Alfie (he's so cute)!

I decided to give Stephanie money for her birthday so inside I made a little pocket with the same embossed butterfly card and put some Frosted Lace Stickles glitter glue on the larger ones..

Hope you like it, I'm quite please with how it's turned out, especially as my mojo has been MIA for a week or so now.

I'm also entering this card into a couple of challenges:-

Oldie but a Goodie - Flower Power
Bizzy Becs - Flower Power

Pretty Little Prints

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all ok, sorry for the lack of posts recently, time just seems to be flying by.

Over on the Craftwork Cards website they've got some fab new products, papers and Candi called Pretty Little Prints, also some brilliant new embossed cards and nestie frames, they are genius, you can do so much with them.

As I'm now a very proud member of the Design Team I was sent these lovely products to play with.  I've come up with three cards for now, but there are a few more in the pipeline so watch this space...

For this card I cut an aperture into a card blank and added the frame over the top with foam pads.  I then stamped, coloured and cut out Warren (I love that bunny!) and stuck him down by his tiny little feet.

For this one I used the largest frame.  I stuck a plain piece of card to the back to make a complete card and then added flowers from the Flower Fusion range.

Finally for this card I took a piece of the embossed card and on my computer I made a text box which I filled with colour and then ran the piece through my printer (as they call come white).  It prints onto really well.  I then used one of CC's templates for the diamond shaped petals which are from the new Pretty Little Prints range and added the sentiment, the Candi is also a new one.

I hope you like them.  Please go and pop over to the Craftwork Cards blog and see what the other DT members have been up to, they really are a very clever bunch!

See you soon.

Runway Inspired Challenge

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok.

Just a short post today, got a few other things I want to post later, but haven't quite got round to sorting them yet.  I did however, finish my card for the Runway Inspired Challenge, this was the picture they gave us..

I love the colours together and realised I had a Stampin Up stamp Posy Punch with that pattern on one of the flowers, so I decided to use that, here is my card...

I cut a section out of the base card, I like doing that with flowers.  I am a tiny bit disappointed as I was going to use three pieces of ribbon to add to the top, but realised I didn't have any blue, so had to resort to inking up some paper border.  Hope you like it.

I off now, I'm going for a sit down as I'm shattered.  I went to see Dirty Dancing at the theatre last night (which was excellent and a very good Patrick Swayze lookalike, which made me very happy) and tonight I'm off to see Westlife in concert.  I'm taking my mum, as it was her Christmas present.

Less is More - Week 71

Hi everyone

Hope you are all having a good weekend, the weather here is still rubbish.  My husband and kids have gone off camping in Bala, North Wales for a canoeing festival this weekend. They've met up with my brother in law and sister in law and two nephews and despite the weather they seem to be having a good time.

The reason I'm at home is that on Sunday I'm travelling down to Rugby for a crafty workshop with Jayne Nestorenko, the brains behind the Cute Companions and Adorables stamps and CD's.  I've been to a few now and they are wonderful and Jayne herself is a really really lovely person.

The house is really quiet without them, but I've managed to have a good sort out of my craft room and make my card for this weeks Less is More Challenge.  Mandi and Chrissie have challenged us this week to a one layer card using flourishes.  Here is my offering...

Due to the weather being so pants, its hard to get a good picture in natural light.  Think I'm going to invest in a light box!  The stamps and from Uniko Studio Fontiment Fancies - Swirls and Flourishes.  I've used just one stamp and gone round an imaginary circle alternating colours (I've used Memento Grape Jelly and Lulu Lavender - yes it's hard to tell but its purple).  The sentiment is from the Fontiments - Birthday set. I then went over the darker flourish with some ultra fine glitter.

Hope you like it.  Bye for now

Less is More - Red, White and Blue

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a lovely Jubilee Weekend.

The weather was typically British yesterday (it rained all day here), so I decided I would get in the Jubilee spirit and sit back and watch the Flotilla of boats go down the Thames. It was lovely to watch.  I then watched the delicious Gary Barlow on how he made the Jubilee song.  When the Military Wives and the little girl from Africa sang, it brought a tear to my eye.  I felt very proud to be British.

Anyway, ramble over.  I managed to get some time and make my card for this weeks Less is More challenge, with the theme of Red, White and Blue.

I've had this handbag stamp a long time and it reminded me of the shape of one the Queen may have.  I got my inspiration from one of Mandi's previous Less is More cards and used the Itty Bitty punch to punch red, white and blue vellum flowers and to cover the bag with those. The sentiment is from Uniko Studio Fontiments stamp set. (Sometimes less is more doesn't mean quick and easy!!)

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, think I might go into handbag design!!!

Bye for now

Bluebells

If you are looking for an update on the Candlelighter's Ladies Night scroll down to previous post

Hi everyone again,

I wanted to show you a card I made this week for a friend who asked me to make an 80th Birthday card.  The lady loves Bluebells and her friends even call her Blue.

I made a easel card with an image from Just Inklined and coloured it with copics.  The papers are Pink Petticoat.  The card blank and mats are from Craftwork Cards.

You can't tell clearly but each little bluebell has been covered in Glossy Accents.

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe's - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Shopping our Stash - May Flowers
Divas By Design - Anything Goes

Have a fantastic Jubilee Weekend.

Candlelighters Ladies Night

Hi everyone and happy Diamond Jubilee Weekend!!

This is the first post of a few as it's been quite busy here recently.

The first on my list is to let you all know how things went on Thursday night.  As most of you know a friend of mine organised a Ladies Night (no strippers!) in aid of Candlelighter's, a Yorkshire based children's charity.  This started because a friend of hers little girl Florence had terminal cancer at only 4 years old.  I have to say 'had' as unfortunately little Florence sadly lost her battle on Tuesday evening of last week.

Many of you out there saw my appeal either through my blog or other people who posted about the event and sent the most fantastic cards for me to sell on the night.  I want to show you a few photo's...

My mum and I had a fantastic time, going through them and pricing them and this was when we had finally finished 5 (yes 5) full baskets!

At the club, the table was a little cramped but we got them all on.  Everyone loved standing and flicking through them.  A couple of ladies took the baskets to their table and sat with them going through them.

I put this note on the table as I wanted everyone to know what people were so kind.

From 5 baskets to 2, this is all I went home with (and the four cans of beer which my mum won in the raffle)!  We are still selling the rest, my mum is taking them to work next week, followed by myself when half term is over.

So the grand total of the night, I gave Jayne £133 from the sale of the cards.  With the rest of the money she sent a cheque off to Candlelighters for £500.  Brilliant!

I want to again say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated cards, posted on their blogs and sent good wishes.  We should be all very proud of ourselves.  If you did post on your blog and you want to mention how we did (as a lot of messages came via other people) I would be grateful.

Lots of Love

Some sad news

Hi everyone, just a very short note today (I will post some other stuff tomorrow), but I'm afraid I'm the bearer of sad news. For those of you who read my post about little Florence who was suffering with terminal cancer, I'm afraid to say that she passed away yesterday afternoon. I'm so sad even writing about it, I cannot begin to imagine what her family and friends are going through, but hopefully now she is at peace and no longer in pain. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated cards for the Ladies Night which is still to be held in aid of Candlelighters, the children's cancer charity who have helped look after Florence. I will of course post photos and let you know how things go tomorrow after the event. Bye for now Jo x

Missing in Action and Craftwork Cards

Hi everyone.

I'm sorry I've been a very bad blogger recently, but life has been so hectic recently.  I was away both this weekend and the one before so not much pottering time has been had.

While I was away in Nottingham on Saturday (on a course with work) I was the featured new Design Team member at Craftwork Cards on their blog HERE.

I've been dying to post the projects I made for them, but was unable to - until now, so I'm really excited to show you all...

A twisted easel card featuring the oh so cute Warren...

Butterfly card using CWC embossed card and scraps of their papers adhered to D/S adhesive sheets and die cut...

3D flower card with CWC papers, I love them they are sooo bright and colourful, and finally...

A ring with Kusudama flowers made with Confetti paper and Candi.  These are fab to make and so easy.

I know, I got a little carried away, but I loved the challenge and wanted to show that I like different styles.  I hope you like them.  Please pop over to the Craftwork Cards web site and blog, meet the other new DT members and have a shop while you are there.

On a personal note, I just want to say a huge huge thank you to everyone who has e mailed me and sent cards for the Ladies Night in aid of Florence and the Candlelighters charity.  If you don't know anything about it, scroll down and there is more info there.  I am overwhelmed with the generosity of you guys.  I can't wait for next Thursday and hope that we make loads of money.  I will of course take loads of piccies and let you know how it all goes.

Bye for now.

A Heartfelt Plea

Hi everyone,

I don't normally do this, but I need your help.

There is a little girl I know (not very well, she used to go to the playgroup my son goes to on a Tuesday morning with her gran which is run by the Salvation Army) in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, her name is Florence.  Florence had just turned 3 years old.  Last year she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in her nose, so rare that hospitals in the UK didn't have the facilities to treat her.

Major fundraising went on and eventually Florence and her mum and dad boarded a plane to America where they did treat her for the cancer, I think she was out there about 6 months.  She came back to Mirfield and just after Christmas was given the all clear.  Everyone was so relieved, she was still quite poorly but just before Easter she made a return to the playgroup and was running around and just being a normal 3 year old girl.

However, we have just found out that the cancer has returned.  She is extremely ill and has only been given a few weeks to live.  She is at home being cared for by her family and nurses from Candlelighters.  When I saw the leader of playgroup this morning they said she is on morphine to keep the pain down, it's just a waiting game.  It is so tragically sad.

This is where I need your help.  On Thursday 31st May some friends of the family are holding a Ladies Night at a local Working Mens Club.  You know the thing, clothes, make-up, gifts, wine etc.  I was asked if I would like to have a stall to sell my cards.  The money raised isn't going straight to Florence (that was done last time for the America trip), but this time for Candlelighters, the charity which is providing the care she needs.

My plan is to sell as many cards as I can at £2 per card, with ALL the money going to Candlelighters, nothing for me, nothing for the cost of the stall, all of it straight to the charity.

If there is anyone out there who thinks they may have one or two cards in their stash which they think they could donate I would be very grateful if you could let me know.  Send me an e-mail jostreet1973@gmail.com.

I have also put a link to the Candlelighters web site just so you can have a quick look.

I don't yet have many followers on my blog, if you think you might know some of your followers who may be able to help it would be brilliant if you could link them back to me.

On the night itself I will take loads of pictures and post them on here and let you know how much was raised.

Thanks for reading.

Less Is More & Retro Sketches

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday.

Just a quick post today as I'm taking my children to a birthday party (lovely!!) I wanted to show you the card I made for Less is More and Retro Sketches.

Less is More challenge this week is a colour challenge and Mandi and Chrissie have picked YELLOW, I have to say I'm not a big yellow card maker, but I am quite pleased with how it's turned out.  Also when I say this weeks Retro Sketch challenge I put the two together and hey presto.

Here is my card...

The papers are from two K & Co pads I've had ages.  I stamped and Paula Pascual flower onto some Craftwork Cards embossed card and then paper pieced the petals. I then added glossy accents to the petals and the Candi to give it a nice shine. I did want more petals to hang over the edge, but didn't quite work out.

Anyway I hope you like it, Mandi and Chrissie, I think you've converted me to a yellow crafter.

Bye for now
