Birthday Boy

Hi everyone,
hope you all having a good day, I'm waiting for the snow, but so far, nothing!  So whilst I'm waiting to be snowed in, I thought I would show you the card I made for my son's 4th birthday at the weekend and also enter it into a few challenges...

The image is from Digi Stamp Boutique, his name is Pirate Sammy and I coloured him in with my Copics.  Oliver loved it and now he picks it up of the mantlepiece and shouts 'Ahoy Me Harties'!!

I'm entering this into a few challenges:-

PollyCraft Challenge - Favourite Things (mine being my son, of course, and Digistamp Boutique)
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Sketch n Stash - Free Sketch choice - I'm using sketch no 67

And before I go, just wanted to show you a little picture of the handsome birthday boy...

Bye for now

A bit last minute

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a great week.

Its a bit of a mad rush here, its my daughter's birthday party tomorrow and I'm taking 13 of her lovely little friends to the cinema then back home for tea.  Then on Sunday, it's my son Oliver's 4th birthday and he's also having a party, this time at a playgym.  Hopefully, on Monday, if I've survived I might have a few piccies to put up.

Anyway  I made this card a couple of days ago and what with everything going on I forgot to post it, but with an hour to spare here it is...

I've made it for the Less is More - Cut It Out challenge.  Well it not so much a hole as more a big slice. Mandi, Chrissie I hope this counts.  The stamps are really old, from when Lakeland used to sell loads of craft stuff and they have never been inked, but I think they are quite pretty images.  You can't really see clearly but after stamping I mounted them onto black card and then covered them with Glossy Accents, to give them a tiled effect.

Hope you all like.

Have a great weekend.

A Card for Evie

Hello again, two in one day, it's a miracle.

It my daughter Evie's birthday on Wednesday and she will be 8 years old.  So I've been busy this afternoon while she was out with her grandma and grandad making her birthday card...

The image is from Digistamp Boutique and she's called Isabella Princess.  The papers I've used are from Pink Petticoat and the Mirri card has been embossed with daisies is from Craftwork Cards.  I've coloured her in with Copics and given her lovely glittery wings.  I hope she will like it.

I can't believe how quickly time has flown she has gone from this...

To this...

Pictured with her younger brother Oliver (centre) and cousin Harry (right). (That's now me in the background in case you were wondering, it's my sister in law). Oh how time flies.  Anyway enough of me gushing.  I am entering my card into the following challenges:-

Party Time Tuesdays - Birthday cards and projects

Think that's a record.  Anyway good evening, have to go now and get school uniform ready for tomorrow.

Bye for now.

Less is More - Cut it Out

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a good weekend.  They go so quick, in a blink of an eye it's Monday morning.  I have however managed to make a card for the Less is More challenge this week which is a theme and that is to cut it out.

And here is my card...

It has actually go 8 apertures cut into it.  I used the Martha Stewart punch.  Underneath is Kath Kidson fabric, which I 'borrowed' from my Mum, I've used wadding under each butterfly to give it that padded look. (the photo in my opinion doesn't do it justice, it's a touchy feely card).  I used to love making aperture cards with fabric and haven't done it for such a long time I'm wanting to make more.  On top is just another piece of white card which I punched and attached with 3D foam pads, just to give it some dimension.  I then needed to fill the middle, so I used one of the butterflies, added a few pearls and hey presto.  I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out.

It's my best friends birthday next week, so I think this will be 'winging' (pardon the pun) to her.

Have a lovely evening.

A New Baby

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a good weekend, but my don't they go fast?

My cousin Jason and his girlfriend Heidi have just had a baby boy, so I've made a card for him...

The image is from Digistamp Boutique called Louie and Teddy and the backing paper is are from Craftwork Cards.  I've coloured him with my Copics.

As you can see on the card, they have named the baby Aston Jay (I'm reserving judgement on this one), but I'm told he's gorgeous as all new babies are.

I'm entering this card into:-

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Buttons, Bows, Bling

Will be back next week with some more cards to show you.

Bye for now.

My first Christmas Card of 2012!!!!

Hi everyone hope you all well.  Want to say a big hello to my two lovely new followers Johanna and Jorgelina.  I really do hope you like what you see on here and I hope I don't disappoint.

Anyway I can't believe I've made a Christmas card in January (well finished a half made one).  I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth from Crimbo Crackers a few days ago, she was seeing Lisa from My Makes and Me (Lisa and I live quite close so we met for a cuppa) as she had won her blog Candy.  Anyway, Ruth told me about her Crimbo Cracker challenge blog, so I thought I'd give it a go.  Like I said this card was already half made before Christmas but was then just left on a pile...

I've had the stamp ages and can't remember where I got it from, but I stamped it with black Stazon and the attached some double sided sticky paper and sprinkled really fine glitter over the top.  (it does have a real shimmer - honest!) The embossed card and sentiment are both Craftwork Cards.   Hope you like it.  I am going to be more organised and make Christmas cards throughout the year so I will have a head start.

Crimbo Crackers Challenge - Black and White

See you soon

Purple - Take Two

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Monday.

I've manged to make another card for the Less is More challenge - Predominantly Purple.

I stamped the flower (can't remember where it came from) in Memento Grape Jelly and the coloured it with Copics, I put glossy accents on the centre of each flower.  I then cut it into squares and made it into a tile.

I'm sorry about the quality of the photo.  I didn't get chance to take it till I got home from work and by then it was only artificial light (must save for decent camera!!).
Bye for now.

Purple Flowers

Hi everyone
Hope you all having a good weekend, I've had a good weekend but boy they go quick!

January in our family is a very busy one for birthdays, with approx 12 to sort out, and with my new year's resolution being to make all the cards I send, it's quite a busy month.  So I thought I would try and match them to challenges as I find that easier for inspiration.

This card up is either going to be for my mum in law or sister in law, not decided yet.  I used the challenges over at Less is More and Freshly Made Sketches.  Mandi and Chrissie at Less is More have gone for a purple theme and I love purple.

And here is my card...

It hasn't quite turned out as I wanted, but I'm not sure why.  The papers are from Craftwork Cards.  I made the flowers cutting three scalloped circles and cutting into them, sticking them together and shaping them.  The centres are made with Card Candi...

I used three, and snipped into the top two and stuck them onto a base one, giving them more a flower centre look rather than just a piece of Candi.  Anyway, hope you like it.  I'm going to try something different later when the kids have gone to bed.
See you soon.

My Top Five Cards of 2011

Hi everyone - again (2nd post of the day, not bad for me!)

I've been meaning to do this for a few days now but never got the chance, and that is to join debby4000 and put on my five favourite cards of 2011.  I've only been blogging since May 2011, so haven't got oodles to go through, but as I looked back I had easily forgotten some of them I'd done at it was a lovely reminder and great to look through people's comments.  Since doing this blog, I've made some new friends and I hope to continue to do so into 2012.  Anyway, here are my five (in no particular order as Tess says on Strictly)...

My first Lili of the Valley stamp.

Craftwork Cards Warren, love the bright colours.

My Less is More Showcased card.

I just love those Pink Petticoat elephants.

A wedding card for friends Tim & Em courtesy of DigiStamp Boutique.

(my apologies for rubbish camera work on a couple - I was still learning!!)

Sorry, can I make it six and add this one on the end, I think he's sooo cute

There you have it my five/six favourites of 2011. I could have gone on and on and on, but there all there if anyone fancies a look, it was great to look back.  What a fab idea Debby.

Love

A Long Post...

Hi everyone, hope the new year has been good to you so far.  Just getting kids ready to go back to school tomorrow, can wait for normality again (I know that sounds boring)!.

Just a few things I wanted to show you.  First is my pressie from Santa (or rather my hubbie).  He doesn't usually buy me crafty goodies but I really wanted them

Not both sets, that would be pushing it too far but the set B colours on top (I got set A last year).  I love them and now my daughter loves them too.  She made a card for her friend Elena who was 8 on New Years Day...

The backing paper was candy I won from Michelle at the Card Grotto, and the girl image is from SJ's Little Musings, I think it was a Freebie some time ago but Evie loves colouring them in.  She cut them out as well with my Spellbinders die, we are both really pleased with how it turned out.

Just a couple more cards to show you.  Sometimes I get asked by friends to make special cards for special occasions.  The first one is a wedding card for a friend at my son's nursery, her daughter Jenni got married yesterday and this is what I made for her...

There colours were teal and silver.  I printed their names onto pearl card and then put a vellum wrap over the top and attached the arrangement with the sentiment at the bottom.  This card needs a box so I made a matching one.

And finally, it was my husband's grandma's 90th birthday today and we all went over to Oldham for a party, we don't often see the Lancashire side of the family but when we do we have a good time, this is the card I made for her...

It's loosely based along the lines of the last one, only this time I printed Pink Petticoat Grannies Wallpaper backing paper on to pearl paper, then ran it through my printer again adding the sentiment at the bottom, think she will like it.

Well that's all for now.  If you got to the bottom and survived, well done.  I'm off to put the kids in bed now and will be back later to put on my 5 fave cards of 2011.

Lots of love

Jo x
